🐆 The African Leopard – The silent hunter of the night The African leopard (Panthera pardus pardus) is the most mysterious member of the Big Five. He moves elegantly, powerfully and almost silently through the savannas, forests and rocks of Kenya. With its golden-yellow fur and characteristic black rosettes, it is considered a symbol of grace and strength - and one of the most difficult animals to spot on safari.
Leopards are masters of camouflage - during the day they usually sleep in trees, in dense vegetation or on rocks. The best chance of sightings is early in the morning or at dusk when they are actively hunting.
